Economic integration plays an important role in a migrant's experience and in social inclusion.

Employment provides not just an income but also a social status, a means for making social connections and an opportunity to learn more about Irish society.

Pathways to Work

The Pathways to Work project aims to enhance young migrants' employment levels by facilitating access to training, better jobs and lifecycle career plans. The transnational project is an initiative funded by the European Commission, under the Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation grant scheme.

Other partners are: the ICI; Conform Consorzio Formazione Manageriale, Italy; the University of Szczecin, Poland; Fundacion Laboral Del Metal, Spain; and Canice Consulting, UK. Diversity Training for Small and Medium Enterprises

The ICI is a partner in the European Commission-funded Leonardo Da Vinci Programme project, "Diversity Training for Small and Medium Enterprises". This project is researching and documenting best practice that exists in the area of diversity training for staff and management in SMEs. A report will be produced, making recommendations around practical and positive steps that can be taken based on best practice in each partner's country. Representatives from organisations in Northern Ireland, Denmark, Greece, Romania and Malta also are taking part.
