Education & Training

The Immigrant Council of Ireland’s (ICI) Education and Training Department provides half-day, full-day and two-day courses on migrants’ rights and entitlements for a range of statutory and voluntary agencies and groups throughout Ireland, including:

  • Citizens Information Centres

  • Community welfare officers

  • Medical and community care social workers

  • Any community or ethnic minority-led organisation which provides services to migrants

  • Vocational Education Committees and other education providers

  • Specialist organisations working on gender based violence (for example, domestic violence and/or anti-trafficking)

The ICI’s training courses assist participants to understand the rights and entitlements of migrants living in Ireland (excluding those in the asylum system). Courses can be held in different parts of Ireland to suit an organisation’s requirements. The courses would benefit all groups who work with migrants in Ireland and, depending on the needs of participants, can cover:

  • The rights and entitlements of migrant workers, international students, family members of migrants and Irish citizens, people with leave to remain in Ireland and others

  • Information on how to make applications for different forms of legal status (such as family reunification or citizenship), what documents are required and where applications should be sent

ICI training courses also provide:

  • An opportunity for participants to apply their knowledge through the use of case studies

  • Accessible and comprehensive information resources which will be of invaluable use to information providers

All ICI training courses are evaluated and feedback is used to adapt content. Courses cost €500 per day plus expenses, however, the fee is negotiable.
