Register, Vote, Run!

Did you know you can vote in local elections?

Every resident in Ireland regardless of their nationality can vote in the local elections, usually held every 5 years in May. Also every resident in Ireland regardless of their nationality can run as a candidate in the local elections. The next local election is due in May 2024.

However in order to be eligible to vote your name needs to be added to the electoral register.

Register to Vote

To be included on the Electoral Register you must submit a paper application form RFA2 from www.checktheregister.ie. Application forms are available at your local post office, public library or City or County Council office. All you need to do is fill out the form as directed and send it back to your local City or County Council office.

We need YOU to vote, to ensure YOUR community is represented.

You need to submit form RFA2 to add your name to the supplementary register. See checktheregister.ie to download form RFA2 or download it directly using the icon below.

Where to Send Your Form

All you need to do is fill out the form, get it signed by a member of the Garda Síochána in your local Garda Station and send it back to your local City or County Council office. You can find the addresses of all 31 city / county councils using the icon below.
