Show Racism the Red Card
Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) was founded in the UK in 1995 by footballer Shaka Hislop, and has been operating in Ireland since 2007. In 2001, the programme was re-launched under the leadership of the Immigrant Council of Ireland.
The SRTRC programme aims to harness the high profile of sportspeople to combat racism. The programme provides educational resources, workshops, trainings and awareness-raising activities for primary and secondary schools, youth groups, workplaces and sporting stakeholders nationwide.
High-profile sportspeople that have supported SRTRC activities in the past include former Ireland internationals Roy Keane, Kevin Kilbane and Curtis Fleming; current Ireland internationals Darren Randolph, Rihanna Jarrett and Séamus Coleman; basketball player Jolie Niland; inter-county GAA players Lee Chin and Sharoize Akram; and table tennis player Sabina Devereux.
