Creative Competition 2024
As part of our Show Racism the Red Card Programme, we are delighted to invite schools to take part in our annual Creative Competition, this year organised in partnership with Schools of Sanctuary Ireland and the Football Association of Ireland.
The competition gives young people the opportunity to express their own anti-racism message through individual or group work. Entries can be submitted in the following formats: written, visual or audio-visual.
The Creative Competition is free to enter for all Primary and Secondary Schools in Ireland and is a great, positive way to engage young people’s interest in anti-racism. We accept submissions for visual art, creative writing, poetry, music, film, and posters.
Entries can be made in the following categories:
- Junior Primary - Junior & Senior Infants, 1st & 2nd Class
- Senior Primary - 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Class
- Junior Cycle - 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year
- Senior Cycle - 4th, 5th and 6th Year
Schools must select two artworks (max) for submission per category.
How to Enter
Teachers can submit digital (only) versions of their student entries. Submissions are made to theredcard@immigrantcouncil.ie and must be received by 5pm on 8th November 2024.

- Audio/Video can be submitted on password protected links.
- Please ensure you provide us with the student’s name & age category
An independent panel of judges select the winning entries and winners will be announced on the 25th November 2024.

About Show Racism the Red Card
Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) is an anti-racism education programme led by the Immigrant Council of Ireland. The programme provides educational resources, workshops, trainings and awareness-raising activities for primary and secondary schools, youth groups, workplaces and sporting stakeholders nationwide.
Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) was founded in the UK in 1995 by footballer Shaka Hislop, and has been operating in Ireland since 2007. In 2021, the programme was re-launched under the leadership of the Immigrant Council of Ireland.
